Double repair

sd.Kfz. 9/1

Original: Unreplacable workhorse of the field unit's repairing the panzers. The 6 ton Bilstein on a Famo halftrack is main tool to lift engines and transmisions in and out.

Model: 35th scale, conversion of a standard Tamiya Famo with parts of the 2 connversion kits, and the DES full kit.

Build: The DES 9/1 was to be returned to it's owner when restored, but stayed a little for a family picture of the 3. After the delivery of one of my own scratch Famo's, the one that was to go with me was lifted by a gust of wind and got damaded.

A last technical question has been answered. Lifting this 13 ton vehicle is done bij a special tool hook on the rear cros beam. That's added to all 3 9/1's The rings on the ends of the beams hold the plugs to secure the struths when in the field. All repaired and ready.

A little mishap on Militracks turns the delicate top of the Famo 9/1 that was to stay in my collection back to the repair department.

It's well build and has lots of nice detail. The struths are not there, so the 3d printer helps to add these essential tools. It's ready to join the 2 Famo's that wil go and visit the creator of the real 9/1 at MiliTracks.

Checking all parts and the stability of the build, it turns out that a lot damage is on indevidiual tracklinks and the connection to the chassis. The track is amazingly good for this kind of old kit. That's often so with these resin kits.

A resortation of a remarkable kit. Tamiya is the measure for the Famo, sinds the magnificent injection moulded kit. Des brought a resin kit of the sd.Kfz 9/1 long before that. This one was on a diorama, but got damaged. The track being the greatest challenge.
