a Vacuformed M39 |
All M39 actions started somewhere 1980-1985 with a vacuformed kit from Franz Schmidt / Airpress.

Front wheels added, filler sanded, and it has a visitor, the M.R. Resin brother. As I have now finished all the other kits of the M39, this is to be finishsed before I start the ultimate modell (or else this will never be completed.

A status picture of this modell. I've added the MR-wheels and the 3D printed TraDo axle, and started fixing some details. The command hatch is the wrong way round. The front light covers are to big and were not put on straight. In the proces of all the other M39's, I cut out the tower ring from the hull, and repaired it now to leave an indention that wil keep the tower in its place.

A new evaluation of drawings, pictures and available modells spells out: Mayor project, mayor headache. The wheels where the main reason I put my vacu formed Airpress / Schmidt model on the shelf in the 90's. The wheels of MR models have the right tread, and they arr send to me for free! Magnificent! My own wheel from the 90's has the wrong thread, the airpress wheel has 6 wheelnuts. The bottom of the vacu next tot the resin makes me wonder about the form of the hull.

Somewhere 1980 - 1985 I met Franz Schmidt on a Twenot - IMM meet in Germany. I bought a couple of kits, all my pocket money could buy. This M39 must have been one of them. Little did I know I would only meet him once. Turned out he was seriously ill. The M39 being one of my holy grail modells I somehowe managed to build the hul and started detailing it. This pictures are from two inventories of projects somewhere over the last 30 years. |
