An Eskadron M113 C/V 's

early M113 C/V

Original: These amphibian light weight's are the replacement for recconaisance Jeeps with a .50 browning gun in the early 1960's. Sporting a .50 ring later replaced by an Oerlikon 20mm gun. Canadian in design and adapted in a lot of details are only used in the Dutch army.

Model: 35th scale, resin kit of the re-worked later version with 3d resin and filement parts.

Build: March 9 2023 - August 2024. Initially I would only assist in this project to do some of the more extensive reworking. That went into a trip down the rabbithole to get them completed before the annual open day. Dutch armour in the 60's turned out to be intruiging. The real vehicle's re-build team an amazing story. Ron wil be missed forever.

Build history

August 10 2024

Ready! and a transport box that wil keep them save.

August 9 2024

The final painting of the anti-slip paint, the tools and lights are done. The markings are a rush job. I only have decals for one vehicle and they're naked without their markings. So I simply hand painted the marknigs on the places where the decals are to come (they wil be fitted later)

August 8 2024

The need to go on a trip these six, so I need a transport box that keeps them in place and the extruding stuff on them.

August 7 2024

All blended to a much lighter coulour, and the first part of the anti slip paint on the top.

July 29 2024

A test with a wash too lighten the colour. (my home-made mixture turned darker than expected)

June 11 2024

Outside picture in a majestic dusk light. We're getting there.

June 9 2024

Paint check for flaws in the airbrushed layer

June 8 2024

Finally. First layer of paint overal.

May 28 2024

And the straps on the bowplate are off again.

May 27 2024

So, 5 cable reels copied and all details checked. Ready for the airbrush!

May 16 2024

Several small handles and the straps on thehe bow plate done. Last item is the cable reel on the rear.

May 13 2024

Antenna's mirrors and lights complete. On to the next step.

April 23 2024

And the rest of the lights is printed and on the bow.

February 19 2024

The pile of little items is getting smaller. a group of lights on most of them

January 27 2024

The green bellies are showing. More and more items in place. Hinges on the hatches are in place

January 17 2024

And it's antenna evening! My good friend Egbert got wild and made 12 nice antenna's. Thank you!

January 15 2024

And on with the small stuff. The antenna are on an extended handle. A little copper strip in 35th.

January 13 2024

The bottom half of all 6 got a first layer of paint with the airbrush. (The other green is a Dutch 1938 Landsverk).

January 8 2024

The hinges for the hatches are 3d printed. It's on the edges of what is poassible with a filement printer. From every batch a few are not usable, but in a minute or 2 a new set is ready.

December 4 2023

Cabels are on the rear. Every half hour is a little progress.

December 3 2023

The start of a lot of the little details that go on the other 5.

December 2 2023

Finaly! done sanding these !@#$% decks. They are in plain side, so it has to be smooth. No easy way if you build this the reverse way. I would have started it different if I would have known.

November 29 2023

A couple of pictures of these neat turrets. Behold the future. Sylly can print them in parts too, but the tolerances wil make you curse yourself if you would have to assemble them. Amazing!

November 28 2023

The holes in the resin hull's are not straight, so it takes a lot of sanding and putty. (Did I mention, six times?)

November 27 2023

Comparing heights and overal dimensions. It's spot on! The .50's have a magnificently detailed visor, but the Dutch army never had them on our M113 C/V 's. the set and the man handles come off and are tiny! Magnificent!

November 26 2023

While comparing, it turns out that this turret is to be a little higher. The fill ring with the other .50 turret is bogus. The armour deck needs to be filled!

November 25 2023

The MAG bow MG's and the other turrets have arrived. Luckyly I ordered 6. There much better than the others! Thanks Sylly's Models! (And for a great price!)

November 14 2023

Number 1 has gotten the cables for the lights, its horn, the covers for the intakes.

November 11 2023

The construction of lights on the number 1 instantly makes it looking more convincing. The tool between the bow plate and the bent tot the hatches must be on the rear deck. So that has to be relocates on 6 vehicles.

October 29 2023

Checking parts and Arne's build I cut of the supports for the tow rope on all 3 bow plates. I kept them to re-attach them on te rear of the vehicles. The 2nd .50 turret is assembled and corrected, it missed it's spring.

October 21 2023

the magazine misses a cartridge, leving a gap, so one is added. I found aneat air target visor on a picture. Very small to add, but fun.

October 19 2023

I found some old .50's dat I cut of the handles and the original fitting (on a jeep or deuce).

October 10 2023

First .50 cupola is fixed. the chin that supports the .50 was not in the bag. It's replaced by a piece of 0.5 mm card.

September 9 2023

6 water spil holes in one picture.

June 25 2023

All fitted, and putty on it. After the first sanding the inperfections stand out. More sanding requiered!

April 4 2023

So the hole is a construction of 3 elements. In this stage the bottom part of all six is made. The second picture has the second one fitted.

April 1 2023

Next step is the drilling of the holes. After that you can look through the 12 holes in one shot.

March 15 2023

Al this is to be the early version and the kit features the late version, some adjustmens must be made.
The plate over the water holes in the front fenders most come of. The holes behind it reconstructed. The steps in the rear fender also are to be open. The turret is to be the small ring mount (M26) instead of the futuristic arm. The hatches are different, so have to be made. Smoke grenade launchers, flotation boxes on the rear and armoured antenna feet stay off. Tow cable on the bow moves to the rear, a FN MAG machine gun on the bow.

Can't be too much worg, right? The tracks fits almost perfect. There assembled so they can be taken off for the spray paint.

March 9 2023

Unboxing reveals a highly detailed kit. With a usable instruction sheet.
